Process and Timeline

1

Document Collection & Determination of Permit Scheme (PKRT/PIRT)

Household product registration requires NIB, relevant KBLI, product formula, Indonesian label, photos, food safety certificate, and quality lab test results. Identify types of household products (detergents, disinfectants, aerosols, packaged foods, etc.), including risk classification according to MOH regulations. Estimated time: about 2-3 working days.

2

Registration in MOH System (PKRT)

Register an account in the MOH e-permitting through OSS, upload documents and upload PNBP fee receipt. The estimated time for document verification is around 3 working days.

3

Technical Evaluation & Testing

Testing process based on product category:
Class I (low risk, such as cloth or tissue): ~45 working days
Class II (medium risk, such as detergent): ~80 working days
Class III (high risk, such as pesticides): ~100 working days

4

PKRT/P-IRT License Issuance

Once the paperwork and technical tests are completed, a certificate is issued by the MOH and can be used for marketing. License issuance is immediately after the evaluation is completed.

*The total time required for household product registration is about 3-6 months. The PIRT license is valid for 5 years, and the renewal process is done ~6 months before the expiration.

Important Consideration

  • Household products must meet quality, safety, and labeling standards under the regulations of the Ministry of Health and BPOM.
  • Products without an official distribution permit cannot be circulated in modern markets, marketplaces or retail stores.
  • PIRT only applies to processed household food products with a limited scale and a certain shelf life.
  • Imported products must have a local distributor as the distribution permit holder in Indonesia.
