Process and Timeline

Consultation and Document Preparation
- To qualify for the Indonesian Diaspora Visa, individuals must provide the following:
- Proof of Indonesian citizenship.
- Supporting documents: Birth certificate, evidence of prior Indonesian citizenship (KTP, birth certificate, expired Indonesian passport).
- Proof of overseas residency for at least 5 years.
- Financial documentation: Bank statements or a commitment to invest a minimum of US$35,000 within 90 days.Estimated time: 3-5 working days.

Diaspora VITAS application
Apply via the Immigration e-Visa portal or RI representatives abroad. The issuance fee is based on immigration regulations. Estimated time: 5-7 working days.

Arrival & Conversion to ITAS
Upon arrival, apply for ITAS without a sponsor a maximum of 30 days after arrival, including biometric processing and residence visa renewal. Estimated time: 7-14 working days.

Issuance of ITAS and Multiple-Entry VITAS Card
Diaspora visas and ITAS are valid for 5-10 years with multiple entries. No need for ongoing sponsorship.

Important Consideration
- The Diaspora Visa does not automatically grant a work permit. If you want to work, you will need to go through the process of status transfer and additional work permits.
- Demonstrating a familial connection to an Indonesian citizen is a vital requirement for diaspora visa approval.
- The Diaspora Visa is single-entry and must be activated into a KITAS upon arrival.
- After staying for a few years, the diaspora can apply for a KITAP or naturalization of citizenship process again (if desired).
