Limited stay permits visa (VITAS)

*The total estimated time to obtain a long-term (valid more than 6 months) work and stay permit (KITAS), in Indonesia is around 60 working days, depending on document completeness.
Important Consideration
- Only companies with complete legality can legally employ foreign workers.
- Foreign workers’ work positions in the origin country shall be adjusted to the list of positions authorized by the Indonesian government.
- The duration of the work KITAS is generally 6-12 months and can be extended according to the employment contract.

What is a KITAS?
A KITAS (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas) is a limited stay permit that allows foreign nationals to work legally in Indonesia under the sponsorship of a company.
What are RPTKA and IMTA?
RPTKA is a plan for the use of foreign workers approved by the Ministry of Manpower. IMTA (now known as notification) is a work permit issued to TKA based on the RPTKA.
Can all companies employ foreign workers?
Only companies that are incorporated in Indonesia, have a complete business license, and meet the requirements for position/organizational structure.
Can foreign workers work immediately after entering Indonesia?
No, they cannot. Foreign workers must complete the KITAS activation process first before officially working.
Can a work visa be extended?
Yes. Work KITAS can be extended according to the needs of the contract and the approval of the relevant agencies.
Can I change my business visa to a work visa?
Yes, but you will need to change your status and apply for a work permit from the beginning.
